Quick Start Guide - UmetyVR Headset

Note: Before you power on your first headset, make sure you have set up your school in the Umety Platform.

If you have purchased a UmetyVR headset, your Umety School Account Admin should have received an email containing an Account ID and PIN.  If your Umety School Account Admin hasn't received the email, please contact us by creating a new Support Ticket.  The school admin can also find the school's Account ID and PIN on the School Details page in their admin portal.

Setting Up Your New Devices

Before you set up a headset, you must make sure you have activated your school account and at least one student user, as you will need this to log into your headset.  If you haven't set up your school account, use this Quick Start Guide to do so before continuing.

With the Account ID and PIN handy, power on the headset and wait for the Umety Classroom App to launch.

You will first be prompted to choose a language for the application.  Use the touchpad on the right side of the headset to select your language, then tap Next.

Now you can connect your Bluetooth controller, which will require two AAA batteries.  When prompted, hold the two buttons together as shown to pair the controller with the headset.  if you see a Search button, tap that to restart the pairing process.  You can also skip adding the controller for now and continue to use the touchpad.  You can pair the controller later, under Settings.

Next, connect the headset to your Wi-Fi network.  This is necessary to register the device with your school account.  If you cannot connect to Wi-Fi right now, you can still go ahead and explore some sample content in STEM Lessons or Interactive Tours.

Finally, you will see some guidelines for using the app.  Click Proceed to continue to the main Home Screen.

If you are prompted to install an update at this point, you should do before proceeding.  The update should take just a few minutes to download and install, and will ensure your headset has all the latest features and bug fixes.

You can now explore some content in all of the available content categories, or go ahead and register your devices.

Connect Your Devices to Your School Account

To connect your devices to your school account and add your license(s), click Register in the bottom menu, then enter the Account ID and PIN and follow the prompts.   You can add a license by clicking Activate under any available license you would like to add to the headset.   Licensed content types will appear as tiles on the Home Screen, where they can be explored by students.

Your school’s account information will be synced with the headset, which can take a minute or two.  Once each license is complete, you can return to the Home Screen, and the headset is ready to be used!

If you want to activate more licenses later, you can add those additional licenses at any time.
